Background In August 1996, Red Logan Dental Clinic was opened in response to the need for dental care. RLDC is very connected to the Good Neighbor Health Clinic, which opened in White River Junction in 1992 to ensure that quality medical care is available to all those in the Upper Valley in medical need but without the means to pay. Dental patients must have a medical referral and may come through Good Neighbor. Dental patients are screened for medical issues. Patients who haven’t seen a medical provider in years are scheduled to come back for a complete physical exam. Both the medical and dental clinics are actively involved in matching clients to other kinds of resources they need. We have assisted people with problems relating to housing, job placement, clothing, or transportation. We provide these referral services to our clients and to callers who may not be seen in our clinics. We are also a referral agency to a neighboring food pantry. RLDC was opened in memory of Maurice “Red” Logan, D.D.S (1924-1995), a much loved and respected resident of the Upper Valley who gave generously of his time, wit, and warm human caring. After serving in Europe in WWII, Dr. Logan pursued dentistry at the University of Nebraska. In 1995, Red came to Hanover and began his service to countless dental patients As a founding member of the NH Dental Study Group, he gave freely of his knowledge and experience in pursuit of excellence in clinical dentistry. In addition to his profession, Red served his church and the Lions Club of Norwich, VT. Dr. Logan’s life of dedication to others will continue through those who share their talents and caring with patients at the Red Logan Dental Clinic. |
